About Emily
I began designing at age eight when I constructed a suit for my younger brother, using only copy paper and staples. While I quickly abandoned designing with paper and staples, my fascination and love for fashion and clothing never left me. Like many other people, I considered other career paths before I ultimately decided to study what I truly loved--fashion. I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, and during my time in college I was the recipient of a number of awards including Best Senior Collection, Best Patternmaking Skills, and Most Marketable Collection.
I am often asked where the Hallman name comes from, and I wanted to share that story with you. Annie Ruth Joyner was my paternal grandmother and Hallman was her maiden name. She passed away before I was born, but Grandma Joyner was a very special lady who was deeply loved and well respected. She had an enormous talent for sewing and working with her hands, and I like to think I inherited those skills from her. Ever since I've known that designing and creating beautiful clothing was what I wanted to do with my life's work, I've known that I wanted to honor her by carrying on the Hallman name. Because I have incorporated her name into my business, I am always reminded to work with integrity, discipline, and determination. The picture below is of my grandparents on their wedding day.
